- W2246744545 abstract "This article aims to investigate the effect of children's behavior at the time of crossing the street when leaving the school with the help of WSB method. In this sampling, four kinds of risky behaviors of elementary students in District 15 of Tehran are taken into consideration: 1. The elementary students' standing along the street as a complete stop. 2. Looking around before crossing the street. 3. Not crossing the street when they are close to the vehicles. 4. Passing across the street slowly. The children under study are considered between seven to eleven years, elementary students at this age can be guided in crossing streets safely through appropriate traffic training. Students' functional performance was examined using WSB (WALKING SCHOOL BUS) method as well as statistical sampling and finally the results were analyzed with SPSS software. KEYWORD Behavior, elementary students, safety training, WSB INTRODUCTION ecause of the vulnerability of child, more attention and care is needed from the family and community.WSB includes a group of children going to or coming back from school with their parents or other adults on foot. WSB means WALKING SCHOOL BUS which is based on two main mechanisms to improve safety behaviors of walking on children [6]: *Corresponding Author: Seyyd Javad Hosseini E-mail: hjavad66@yahoo.com 1. Walk with an adult reduces the risk of children crossing the street almost up to 70% [1]. 2, Train the behaviors to cross the street, by educators in commuting the school also reduces damage, and the safety of children to support children's active communication (walking and cycling) is very important since parents’ and educators' decision making affects children's walking and active communication. Modifying children's safety walking behaviors is of the major advantages of the WSB. In addition, children's active communication with the use of safe routes increases their physical activities as well [2]. Children as one of the route users have characteristics concerned with traffic issues [3]: 1. Learning the range of all traffic behaviors 2. The inability to estimate speed and distance of vehicles 3. Increasing the risks of crossing without parents or other adults In this article we try to investigate safety walking behaviors of elementary students in the district 15 of Tehran pedestrian with the help of WSB method. PROBLEM STATMENY AND OBJECTIVES The largest group among the victims of accidents caused by traffic is pedestrians; adolescents and young adults are most at risk, due to the age requirements.
