- W2247637317 abstract "Magnetic treatment of water is an attractively simple approach by which the water to be treated flows through a magnetic field, and consequently changes some of its physicochemical properties. It can help descale metal surfaces and prevent the corrosion. Based the investigation purpose, the following outlines are focused: (1) To estimate fouling by means of the ratio of the enhanced-to-plain tube of heat transfer/pressure drop. (2) To carry out an extensive study of heat transfer enhancement in a small tube by means of a strip type insert. An experiment was carried out to investigate the characteristics of the magneto-fluid-mechanical fouling, heat transfer and pressure drop of strip-type inserts (strip type inserts-longitudinal strip (LS) and regularly interrupted strip (RIS)) in a small tubes bank having an inside diameter of 2.0 mm. In general, under no MWT (magnetic water treatment) condition, the effect of enhancement for the tube with the LS-insert is strongly decreased. But the effect of enhancement (R1) and the pressure drop ratio (R2) for RIS-inserts retained almost the same tendencies (the slop between the performance ratios (R1 and R2) remain nearly equal) as the time increased. In addition, with MWT condition the R(subscript ƒ) ratio (enhanced-to-plain tube) and R1 of the present LS, RIS1-(the interrupted numbers of strip insert, n=20), RIS2-(for n=25). RIS3=(for n=50) cases are on an average decreased to 8.9%, 12.5%, 11.6%, 11.2% and increased to 3.0%, 2.3%, 5.8%, 4.1%, respectively." @default.
