By analysing the period of the western civilization which is called globalization, it discusses the relation between business and society.It doesn’t treat the business - that is the form of the economy characteristic for a given period in history - as valid forever, but it describes it as the contact (communication) between Human and Nature. Only that type of economic activity can be fitted into society and nature in a harmonious way, which blends the rationality of thinkability and feasibility with the morality of sustainability.The essence of global responsibility is the respect of locality. Based on Polanyi, the essay details this brief statement in 3 main aspects (workforce, land, money).•The social responsibility of global enterprises: contributing to the development of a social protective net which preserves workforce in its entire humanity.•Global enterprises must contribute to preventing of the falling apart of nature, this is the substance of their equality with respect to land which is their economic space.•Global enterprises must accept that the monetary system is governed by the community.The essay analyses with emphasis the increasing burdens on nature, the intensifying polarization, the increase in differences between incomes, and the more and more dominant role of the monetary sphere above the real sphere.
