- W2249495003 abstract "Births of a child is undoubtedly one of the most significant events in life, filled with excitement and joy, but at the same time represent a new way of life. During the pregnancy and postpartum period different psychological changed appear. Perinatal psychiatry deals with mental disorders which occur in pregnancy (prenatal), antenatal disorders, psychological problems of the fathers and needs of the parents which are psychiatric patients. It is a significant area of modern psychiatry. Nosologically, psychiatric disorders which occur in postpartum period are divided into three categories, mutually intertwined: postpartum blues, postpartum depression, and puerperal psychosis. According to the ICD-10, the above mentioned categories fall into the class of 'Mental and behavioral disorders associated with the puerperium'( F 53). However, research and clinical practice shows that this is a complex phenomenon, which includes a spectrum of psychopathological occurrences. In this paper, a contemporary theoretical framework of perinatal psychiatry is discussed, as well as the basic principals of diagnosis and treatment." @default.
