- W2254746592 abstract "Background: Imaging dopaminergic system using Tc-99m TRODAT-1 single photon emission tomography (SPECT) in the human brain appeared feasible and useful for clinical implications. Problems remain including a communicable imaging interpretation between cameras in or inter hospitals. This study was thus intended to observe such possible differences and corrected parameters between cameras using an established brain phantom method. Methods: A specially designed phantom for brain ST imaging was applied. Tc-99m radioactivity used in this study were adjusted similar to that of clinical use with original filling ratios for ST and background ranged from 2:1 to 5:1 that created imaging specific uptake ratios [SURs] ranged from 0.8 to 3. Thee types of gamma cameras (GE, Helix Hawkeye and Infinia) were applied with optimal imaging acquisitions and analyses respectively, where Metz filter used in Helix and Hawkeye and Butterworth in Infinia. The actual radioactivity in ST and background was measured by a gamma counter. Imaging test-retest variations were calculated. The linear regression was applied for correlations of radioactivity between cameras. Results: Good correlations of radioactivity were found between the gamma counter and the SURs measured from the 3 gamma cameras in given ranges, i.e. y=0.8401x-1.2148, r^2=0.9332 for Helix; y=0.8091x-0.9414, r^2=0.9133 for Hawkeye and y=0.4687x-0.3525, r^2=0.8678 for Infinia. Acceptable correlations were also achieved between Helix and Hawkeye but fair to Infinia. The test-retest variations of ST and its subregions among cameras ranged 0% to 9.4% with an average of <5%.Conclusions: Striatal imaging display could differ due to used parameters. However, the acceptable imaging variations and good correlations between in vivo/in vitro radioactivity and that in different cameras suggested that, for practice, Tc-99m striatal SPECT can be quantitatively interpreted and compared in different sites if correlative factors between cameras were set." @default.
