- W2259132302 abstract "Voting theory, as it stands, is not in a position to adequately assess black political participation and thus not able to make ethical statements about Blacks voting in American Democracy. This study aims to reconcile voting theory with black political participation and blacks response to systemic and structural barriers to voting. There is an implicit axiom held in voting theory that voting is a unilinear function of democracy. Viewing democracy as a social construction, however, I argue that without historical foundations it is not possible to sufficiently understand voting simply theoretically or philosophically because of the polarized experiences of Blacks in the voting system – proving that voting can not be viewed unililearly." @default.
