- W2260119098 abstract "The objective of the present study was to do a taxonomic identification of bacterial isolates belonging to four cultivable bacterial functional groups linked to the carbon cycle (hydrocarbon degrading bacteria HDB) and nitrogen cycle (denitrifying, nitrite oxidizer NOB and ammonium oxidizer AOB) in the La vieja and Otun basin rivers in the colombian coffee region. We carried out two sampling event, corresponding to transitional periods of precipitations (June and September, 2006) selecting three representative soil uses for each basin. In each soil use we choose two representative farms and in each of them we choose three sites, obtaining a sum of 96 soil samples (48 for each sampling event). The soil samples were processed by other researchers in past investigations, where they isolate a great number of bacterias, and in this study they were submitted to taxonomic identification through PCR of the 16S rDNA and posterior sequencing. We obtained a bigger number of isolates for the hydrocarbon bacterial group in comparison with groups linked to the nitrogen cycle. The number of different isolates of HDB was variable between the different soil uses and between the sampling events, observing a rising for September. The soil uses clustered in agreement with the composition of the cultivable bacterial communities, and we observed clusters formed by those soils most disturbed by man. With respect to NOB and AOB, we obtain very few identified isolates, and a great number of isolates genetically related with 16S ribosomal parcial sequences belonging to non cultivable bacteria at this time." @default.
