- W2260322552 abstract "Summary . — Floristic variability of herbaceous vegetation of the Niaye de Pikine, Senegal. — A phytosociological study of the vegetation has been conducted in Senegal at the experimental station of Camberene (Horticultural Development Centre), following the fluctuations of the herbaceous layer through floristic observations series carried out in 2005. Results, which arise from multivariate analysis methods (Factorial Correspondence Analysis FCA), showed high variability in floristic composition. The floristic composition is rich of 43 families represented by 119 genera and 163 plant species. This variability is in close relationship to the heterogeneity of the vegetation and the fluctuations of the ecological factors. It allowed the spatial characterization of five vegetation units strongly dependent on edaphic factors and among which some constitute vestiges of an old vegetable carpet. While following the dynamics of this vegetation compared to the ancient results of Trochain and Raynal, one notes that this zone experienced an evolution indicating the impact of drought, increased salinity of the soils and anthropization. Climatic, anthropic and especially edaphic factors gave the herbaceous vegetation its structure currently dominated by the presence of species characteristic of arid area and equipped with a great capacity of dissemination." @default.
