From these data transverse response functions have been extracted at constant three-momentum transfers of 250, 290, 330, 370, 410, 450, 490, and 530 MeV/c. The results in the quasielastic region have been compared with two relativistic Fermi gas models: one employing a momentum-transfer-dependent effective mass ${M}^{*}$, the other employing the free-nucleon mass. The region beyond the quasielastic peak has been compared with model calculations incorporating meson-exchange currents and nucleon-nucleon correlations.
