- W2265546042 abstract "The present study was carried out to determine the phytocomponents in the leaves parts of katuk, ＂Sauropus androgynus＂ L. Merr. The leaves extract was examined using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) to analyze the active compounds. Results showed the presence of thirty five compounds in the ethanolic leaves extract. GC-MS analyses identified the active compounds mainly consist of fatty acid, tocopherol, alkaloid, parabens and glycerol. The major components were 9, 12, 15- Octadecatrienoic acid (Z, Z, Z)-, hexadecanoic acid, 2, 8-dimethyl-2-(4, 8, 12-trimethyltridecyl)-6-chromanol, caffein, methylparaben and propylparaben. The isolated phytocomponents also exhibited some biological activities including antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiimflammatory and preservative activities. The presence of various bioactive compounds in the katuk, ＂S. androgynus＂ leaves extract justifies the use of the plant in traditional medicine as a healing agent, placebo and medication in various diseases. The ethanolic leaves extract of ＂S. androgynus＂ is considered for application in the fish farming to enhance survival, growth, and immmunomodulation." @default.
