- W2268269498 abstract "In Sweden there is a fairly vast right to information concerning employers. The right to information according to the Co-determination Act is exclusive for the trade unions, mainly for those bound by a collective agreement. A right to information is included in the right to negotiation, which includes a wide variety of topics. The employer is also obliged to take initiative to provide information about the development of production and finances of the corporation. This right to general information includes a right to examine financial books, accounts and other documents relating to the employer's business. Issues not belonging to the relationship between the employer and the employees are not subject to the unions' right to information, e.g. information concerning the relationship between the company and its owners, the employer's relationship to other trade unions, or the wages of non-union labor. Also exempted are the cases in which the legislator has given priority to the interests of democracy and opinion forming, dispositions in conflict situations and development issues of a particularly confidential nature. A party has the right to negotiations with respect to the confidentiality of the information provided. In 1995, Sweden became a member of the EC and thereby its system for industrial democracy had to adapt to EC law. This has meant extended opportunities for employees in multinational enterprises to obtain information from the central management. It has also meant that, on some occasions, rights have been given to organisations without collective agreements." @default.
