- W2272321049 abstract "The seeds of Aesculus hippocastannum,Aesculus turbinata Blume and Aesculus wilsonii Rehd are the resource of the traditional chinese medicine Semen Aesculi. The seeds and the bark of young branches of Aesculus hippocastanum (the horse chest-nut tree) congeneric plant of Aesculus chinesis Bunge are also widely used as medicines in Europe.Dating from the early 18th century some reports have indicated therapeutic properties for horse chestnut. These have ranged from anti-fever to,at the end of the 19th century, anti haemorrhoidal properties.Aescin is the main active constituent from the horse chestnut seed extract,a complex mixture of chemically very similar compounds known as triterpenoid saponins.A number of reports have indicated therapeutic properties for aescin possess anti-inflammatory,antiedematous,capillary-protective properties, accrescence intravenous tension, suppress gastric emptying, eliminate active orygen and anti-tumbor and have shown satisfactory evidence for clinically significant activity in chronic venous insufficiency (CVI),haemorrhoids, asthma and oedema. In this paper, the pharmacological effects Aescin and its clinical application were reviewed." @default.
