- W2273751531 abstract "Along with some recovery in production, a little optimism has returned to producers of four of the largest-volume mineral-based inorganics— lime, sulfur, potash, and phosphorus. But production of all four is still well below their historic highs. Some may never again reach previous record highs because of special circumstances in their production worldwide or in their uses in the U.S. Each of these four major-volume inorganics differs in its recovery pattern from the past recession. Lime, for example, may have a production gain of 11% this year over 1983, but potash production at best will be flat or up just slightly. But lime's 11% gain—the largest gain forecast for any of the four inorganics—is very close to the average annual increase expected this year for all major-volume chemicals. The lack of big growth typifies the position of the mineral-based inorganics—that of mature products. They are continuing to be beset by competition in their markets from ..." @default.
