- W2275175037 abstract "The priory of Solesmes, founded in 1010 by the Seigneur de Sablé with a few monks from La-Couture du Mans and restored by the Maurists in 1722, was raised to an abbey in 1837 : the constitutions of Saint-Pierre de Solesmes, written by Dom Prosper Guéranger, are based on the usages and customs of Cluny and the constitutions of the congregation of Saint-Maur. The inventory of Cluniac liturgical books for the recitation of the divine office is limited to a single antiphonary and three noted breviaries ; for the study of chants for the mass at Cluny, there are two remaining graduals and a noted breviary-missal from the priory of Saint-Pancrace ; for the processional chants, there is one remaining manuscript. This slim harvest, however, allows one to compare the chanted liturgy at Cluny with that of La-Couture du Mans (and of Solesmes), which is grouped with the repertories of western France. Overall, the survival of the Cluniac musical tradition at Solesmes amounts to a few pieces of chant from the processional and steadfast care in the study and practice of plain chant." @default.
