- W2276902250 abstract "The problems of the family in Russia today have been conditioned both by worldwide tendencies that are characteristic of developed countries and by the specific character of the historical period of development that Russia is going through today, the essence of which lies in the systematic transformation of a society of a planned economy and a unitary ideology into one that is democratic and based on principles of market relations and political pluralism. This process cannot continue without developing increasingly complex and acute socioeconomic and political problems; each day more and more new issues arise that have no counterparts in world practice. In Russia, owing to a number of objective and subjective causes, the period of transformation is accompanied by an acute economic crisis as well as political instability in society, both of which have hit all strata of the population hard, and, consequently, the family as well. Mounting difficulties and destructive tendencies in society and the economy threaten to be too much for the protective and self-restorative functions of the family. The hardships of the period of transition make it difficult for people to react appropriately to the situation and are determining their social and economic behavior." @default.
