- W2277584531 abstract "The Bureau of Tourism Research (BTR) regularly publishes forecasts of international arrivals to Australia. Until now, however, there have been few forecasts available of domestic tourism activity, which makes up approximately 77 per cent of the total visitor nights generated in Australia. This paper presents the results of the modelling effort undertaken by BTR on the tourism activity generated by Australian travellers. In conjunction with existing BTR inbound tourism models, the resulting models will provide a fuller picture of aggregate tourism activity in Australia. The models will also form part of a planned series of forecasting models covering the origin and Australian destination of both Australian and inbound tourists. While the resulting models show reasonably good performance in comparison with existing forecasting practices in the industry, they clearly need to be reestimated as more data become available in the future." @default.
