- W2279552616 abstract "Background: Since electricity was discovered, much as been speculated about electrical field effects and subsequent impact on health. Now, on the early years of the XXI century, a renewed interest has emerged on air ionization; this interest has emerged because of technological advances that as conditioned the availability of new, efficient and economic ion generators and better devices to measure ions and their impact on the environment and health. Goal: The purpose of this document is to evaluate the state of the art of indoor air pollution control with electronegative ion air generators, including a brief review of operational fundaments and health impact from the preventive and therapeutical perspectives. Method: This is a review of scientific and medical relevant publications related to indoor environmental contamination and the related mechanisms and effects of air ionization. Outcome: Air ionization research has involved many researchers through the second half of past century. The introduction of new technologies on ion generators, and reliable measuring devices with improved scientific and statistical methods has derived not only on reliable information but also on FDA and OSHA operational and safety standards. Conclusions: Solid evidence is available on electronegative air ioni" @default.
