- W2279742784 abstract "1360 Objectives The study aims at evaluating the role of FDG PET/CT in management of patients with Burkitt’s lymphoma detected in the abdomen Methods FDG PET/CT scans were evaluated retrospectively from patients histopathologically diagnosed with abdominal Burkitt’s lymphoma from 2009 to 2014. The scans acquired were interpreted independently by two experienced nuclear medicine physicians. The disease in each patient was staged using Ann Arbor criteria based on both anatomical and PET-imaging based findings Results Eighteen patients (median age of 6 years, 15 males) underwent a total of 44 FDG PET/CT scans from 2010 to 2014. Of the 44 scans, PET/CT was done for primary staging in 10 patients. Of the remaining scans, 7 were interim scans, 13 were for restaging following completion of therapy and 14 were follow-up scans. In the scans used for staging, the major presentation was in the small bowel (n = 7) followed by an abdominal lymph nodal mass (n = 6); atypical presentations were also found, such as in the ovary and the adrenal gland. In comparison with anatomical imaging for staging, PET/CT up-staged the disease in 6 of the 10 patients. New extra-abdominal disease was identified in 5 scans. The overall sensitivity, specifity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy of PET/CT in demonstrating disease involvement on a per-lesion basis were 92.8%, 48.9%, 79%, 82% and 76% respectively. Conclusions FDG PET/CT carries a high sensitivity in identifying disease in clinical staging and follow-up of patients with abdominal Burkitt’s lymphoma. Compared to conventional imaging, it can identify additional sites as well as extranodal involvement and thus help in proper staging of the patients." @default.
