- W2280452029 abstract "Hypomelanosis of Ito (HI) is a rare multisystemic neurocutaneous syndrome. It is considered the third more frequent neurocutaneous upheaval after the neurofibromatosis type I and tuberous sclerosis. It is frequently associated with disfunction of the CNS and cognoscitive alterations (convulsions and mental retardation –60%–, and approximately 15% are limiting). Autism is observed in 10%. The case of a 8.10 years old girl, second grade primary school, right hand is presented. The disease was diagnosed at three years of age, with partial convulsive crises secondarily generalized to the five years. Two years later a neuropsychological evaluation through WISC-R and LURIA-DNI battery was made (Sleeve and Branches, 1991). She was in neuropsychological treatment during a year and had a later reevaluation. Results: After the neuropsychological intervention, it was demonstrated an important diminution of the impulsiveness, as well as progress in the reasoning processes and abstraction of the thought. Additionally, she dramatically developed the functions of visuospace perception, reading, writing and calculation, mainly, impacting directly in her scholastic performance. It is emphasized the importance of opportune diagnosis, interdisciplinary work and neuropsychological intervention in this type of cases." @default.
