- W2281826731 abstract "A brief review is presented of phytophagous insects and other pathogens, essentially fungi, that damage oaks in Italy. The AA focus particularly on how the organisms attack the tree, and on the type of damage caused by leaf-eating and xylophagous insects and pathogenic fungi, with special reference to the physiological difficulties suffered by trees that are attached. Among the leaf-eating insects, the following are discussed: lepidoptera limantriida, geometrida and taumetopeida; among the xylophagous insects: the coleoptera bostrichida, bupestrida, cerambicida and scolytida. The main fungi examined are some Ascomycotina and Deuteromycotina, which cause defoliation and branch dieback, and a probable agent of a vascular disorder. Some speculations on the symbiosis that can arise between xylophagous insects and pathogenic fungi are also presented: in these insect/fungus relationships the insects can play an important role as vectors transporting fungi" @default.
