- W2284738202 abstract "This paper deals with the analysis of thermal effects on both static and dynamic mechanical response of inclined stay-cables used in cable-stayed bridges. Starting from the catenary cable theory, a nonlinear analytical approach is proposed in order to effectively estimate stress variations induced in elastic stays by uniform temperature changes. Making use of simplifying assumptions, the influence of temperature variations on the free undamped vibration of stay-cables is also investigated. Soundness and effectiveness of the proposed approach are shown by comparing model results with experimental data measured on stay-cables of the Rades-La Goulette cable-stayed bridge in Tunisia. Sommario In questo lavoro si analizzano gli effetti indotti da variazioni di temperatura sulla risposta meccanica sia statica che dinamica di stralli inclinati, impiegati in ponti strallati di grande luce. A partire dalla formulazione catenaria, si propone un approccio analitico non lineare in grado di fornire una stima accurata delle variazioni di tensionamento in stralli elastici indotte da variazioni uniformi di temperatura. Facendo uso di opportune ipotesi semplificative, si analizza inoltre l’influenza degli effetti termici sulle caratteristiche di vibrazione libera non smorzata dei cavi. La consistenza e l’efficacia dell’approccio proposto sono mostrati confrontando i risultati del modello con i dati sperimentali misurati sui cavi del ponte strallato di Rades-La Goulette in Tunisia." @default.
