- W2288328415 abstract "Water availability in an aquifer depends on soil water infiltration and percolation in recharge areas. Se- veral factors influence its dynamics. Different land uses are an example, influencing also infiltration and intercep- tion rates, as evapotranspiration. Facing the importance of recharge areas to aquifer maintenance and different land uses influencing its dynamics, the use of ancillary information on groundwater levels monitoring is an interesting alternative comparing with monitoring networks field implementations costs. The aim of this work was analyze the correlation between spectral response of agricultural crops and water table depths oscillation in monitoring wells located in a recharge area of the Guarani Aquifer System (GAS). Data from observed water table depths time series monitored at sugarcane and eucalyptus reforestation fields and EVI-2 (Enhanced Vegetation Index-2) time series from MODIS sensor were used. The results demonstrated that there is correlations between water levels oscillations and spectral behavior in large crop with seasonal cycles. The use of remote sensing products in groundwater predic- tion models can be explored when detected correlations between target variables of the study." @default.
