• W2288624901 abstract "A method of alignment of liquid crystals (LC) and dyes is photoalignment by laser radiation [1-6]. A theory of this phenomenon [7] based on a solution of a diffusion equation describes the dependence of the order parameter vs. time. However this method doesn’t permit to obtain the molecules angular distribution as a function of the aperture of the light beam. The goal of the presented paper is to find the relation between the angular distribution of the LC or dye cluster director oriented by the polarized laser beam and polarizability anisotropy, the number of molecules in a cluster, order parameter and beam aperture. In this work we propose a model of liquid crystals and dyes orientation by the laser radiation taking into account the anisotropy of the molecules optical polarizability [8]. A dependence of the molecules energy on strength of the light wave electrical field and aperture of the light beam is derived. A dependence of the function of the director distribution on the angles in the cluster on these characteristics is obtained. A number of the molecules in the cluster is estimated. A dependence of the number of the molecules orientated by the light on the irradiation time and irradiation energy is obtained." @default.
