• W2289561331 abstract "The study undertaken for this Dissertation Project uses a narrative modelling language – the Business Narrative Modelling Language (BNML) of Oliveira and Ferreira, (2010b, c, d), through which a relationship is established between the Corporate Narrative and the way that tangible and intangible assets are exchanged, used and created. The narrative is thus used as a conducting wire of roles which unfold in certain scenarios, via the narrative pattern language and the instantiation of the value network associated to it. For this effect the research methodology used is based on a qualitative study (interview and observation) which, according to Neuman (1994) tends to comprehend which are the attitudes, actions, behaviours and ways of thinking of the actors involved in the case study presented in this dissertation. In this study BNML is used to construct a model which describes the interaction, and the value network which emerges, between the owner and manager of a SME (small and medium enterprise) and his strategic consultant. The result of the study undertaken is translated into a model which explains a sequence of narrative patterns. These patterns emerged from the analysis of the stories told by each of the individuals involved and from the analysis of the value occurring between the CEO (manager) of the enterprise and his strategic consultant. At the end, the results of the study undertaken are evaluated. Thus, the study presented herein allowed the author to conclude that through modelling, using BNML, it is possible to achieve greater objectivity in the analysis of the narrative and to explain the relationship between the narrative and the creation of value. This greater objectivity is attained due to the delimitation of the patterns used and the combination of terms of an Enterprise Ontology (Uschold et al., 1998). These combinations of the ontology terms, grouped by the promoter of the model, are then classified under the form of a pattern using the proposed terminology for the game patterns (Bjork and Holopainen, 2005)." @default.
