- W2289771104 abstract "In the Colombian coffee zone the area sown with maize switched from 7,500 ha in 2002 to 50,000 ha in 2006. That maize displays high quality due to soil fertility and to the little difference in day and night temperatures. When maize growing was technified with improved materials, hybrids or varieties, it was necessary to experiment with the technological adjustment and particularly with chemical nutrition. In order to reach such goals, the response of a variety and of a hybrid to fertilization with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium was studied. The experiment was installed in three localities for two semesters in a row in order to assess ten treatments applying the constant bottoms technique, thus, when the level of any of these elements varied, the other two kept a constant dose, including the absolute control. The results permitted to adjust the fertilization plan for the sowing of the varieties ICA V-305 and ICA V-354, when the need for increasing the nitrogen and phosphorus doses up to 100 kg.ha-1 was demonstrated. There were not differences among the concentrations of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S and ashes in the grain between the variety and the hybrid. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the corresponding adjustment in function of its performance potential." @default.
