• W2290156503 abstract "RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar o desempenho de dois sistemas de medicao de densidade optica numa amostra composta por segundos molares deciduos, assim como relacionar a presenca de lesao de carie dentinaria na superficie oclusal de segundos molares deciduos com os valores de densidade optica desta superficie, utilizando dois programas de computador. Para isso foi realizada a medicao da densidade optica de 28 radiografias padronizadas de segundos molares deciduos em dois programas de computador diferentes. Os resultados obtidos com o programa Digora ® for Windows 2.1 foram comparados com os obtidos no programa Image Tool for Windows 3.0. Ainda, os valores de densidade optica encontrados foram relacionados aos diagnosticos obtidos com o exame dos dentes no estereomicroscopio. Os programas Digora e Image Tool apresentaram valores de densidade optica semelhantes, sem diferenca estatisticamente significativa. Ainda, a densidade optica observada nos dentes que nao apresentavam lesoes de carie dentinarias na superficie oclusal foi diferente daquela cujos dentes possuiam lesao em dentina (p = 0,035). Entretanto, com os resultados obtidos neste estudo nao foi possivel estabelecer intervalos de densidade optica correspondentes a superficies oclusais com presenca ou ausencia de lesoes de carie em dentina. SUMMARY The aim of this study was to evaluate two methods of optical density measurement in a group of second deciduous molars and to relate the presence of dentine caries in the occlusal surface with the values obtained with de optical density measurement by two different computer softwares. With this purpose, 28 standardized radiographs were digitized and evaluated by two different softwares, in order to obtain the optical density measurement. The results obtained with the software Digora ® for Windows 2.1 were compared with the ones obtained with the software Image Tool for Windows 3.0. The numbers found with the optical density measurement were compared with the teeth sections exam on the stereomicroscope. There were no differences between the values of optical density measurement found in both softwares, Digora and Image Tool. The optical density measured in teeth without occlusal caries lesions in dentine were different from the one measured in those with occlusal caries lesions in dentine (p = 0.035). On the other hand, with the results obtained in this study, it was not possible to establish optical density values corresponding to occlusal surfaces with or without caries lesions in dentine.
