- W2290975073 abstract "This study was performed by the end of the autumn semester of 2006-2007 Education Seasons. The main aim of the study is to clarify whether occupational respect (i.e.the value judge which the individual has developed according to his professional choice) may vary according to university, branches, sex of students, teaching type and reasons in choosing the profession. The sample of the study was comprised of last year branches at Pamukkale University and Gazi University. In this research totally 633 students were included the study. Moreover, Professional-Self Concept Criteria which was developed by Aricak (2001) was used by his permission to clarify self-respect of the sample group. As a result of the study, it was observed that self-respect approachments of students at Pamukkale University and Gazi University was almost at the same level and that sex of students and the reason to choose the teaching profession was an important factor but not the branches at which they study and teaching type. SUMMARY Purpose and Significance: This study aims to find out whether or not one's own professional occupational respect (the occupational respect which an individual develops about his/her profession) varies in terms of university, departments, gender of students, types of education and reasons for choosing a specific profession. Methods: This research is based on survey modeling since its purpose is to describe a situation which existed in the past or which still exists as is (Karasar, 1999: 77). In this study two way ANOVA was used for irrelevant samplings (Buyukozturk, 2002: 51) due to the fact that research findings were not tested according to two factors between the groups depending on the effects of a dependent variable and that the primary effects of the factors and the collective effects of the two factors on the dependent variable were tested simultaneously. Findings: The research findings indicate that the levels of the professional occupational respect of the students attending to Education Faculties of Pamukkale and Gazi Universities are almost the same and that gender and reason for choosing a profession are important factors in the professional courtesy of students taken into sampling frame, but departments and type of education are not very significant factors. Discussion: Research must be done regarding how to increase the professional occupational respect of the students who are attending and who will attend to Education Faculties. Research must also be done about how to increase the professional occupational respect of those students who chose education faculties involuntarily in one way or another. Finally, comparative studies should be carried out abut the occupational respects of current teachers and candidate teachers and it must be clearly stated that what types of precautions must be taken." @default.
