- W2292536537 abstract "Metamorphosed hydrothermal explosion breccias have been found recently in the Western Field of the Felbertal Scheelite Deposit. These rocks are an intrinsic part of the K 2 orebody. They form a particular horizon and overlie an extensive mass of stratiform quartzite and the amphibolitic rocks around it. This quartzite mass has striking similarities to silica sinters in recently-formed explosion craters like those of the Waiotapu and Waimangu Geothermal System in New Zealand. The horizon with the breccias has a strike length of at least 100 m. The breccia clasts consist of fragments of mafic and felsic igneous rocks and massive quartzite from the underly ing strata. The clasts show great variation in their size and degree of rounding and have been tectonically stretched. Within this breccia horizon the number of clasts decreases rapidly away from the quartzite mass, and the medium- to fine-grained gneissic groundmass is interpreted as an alteration product associated with explosive," @default.
