The paper will explore the political motivations for such re-significations after an in depth exploration of masculinity studies on the topic of gender performativity and its relation to sexual orientation labeling. Second, the paper will explore the political use of comic interventions in stand up and romantic comedy as to whether they are acts of resistance or strategic invocations of gender conservatism. Referencing real events where the f-word has triggered acts of violence motivated by rage at gender injustice, the paper will conclude by placing such comedic interventions into a narrative of the contemporary masculinity." @default.
