- W2309066729 abstract "2515 Objectives Dual point FDG-PET is reported to be useful for diagnosing breast cancer. However, the standardized uptake value (SUV) varies between studies performed using different PET scanners. In this study, we examined the possibility of using the partial volume correction (PVC) to standardize FDG-PET studies with two PET scanners. Methods One hundred fifteen lesions from ninety-nine breast cancer patients were examined. The short-axis diameter of these lesions was 14.4 ± 8.7 mm (range: 4 to 57 mm). The first scans were performed with Advance NXi at 60 min and the second scans were performed with TruePoint Biograph 40 at 120 min after FDG injection. The maximum SUVs (SUVmax) were measured from both time points (SUVmax1 and SUVmax2). The percent change in the SUVmax (Δ%SUVmax) between the two time points was calculated. Seven spheres and the background in the NEMA IEC body phantom were filled with 18F solution with different sphere to background (SB) ratios of 8:1, 4:1, 2:1 and 1.25:1. The recovery coefficient (RC) curves were generated and were approximated with PSF. Then, we made lookup tables for the PVC of each device from the RC curves. Results The mean ± SD of the SUVmax1, the SUVmax2 and the Δ%SUVmax were 5.69 ± 4.45, 5.16 ± 4.27 and -9.29% ± 1.90%, respectively. After PVC, all of them significantly increased and were 11.77 ± 6.74, 11.51 ± 6.63 and -1.14% ± 2.01%, respectively. In addition, the lesions with a positive Δ%SUVmax increased after PVC, from 26.7% to 41.7%. Conclusions The PVC for the SUVmax is considered to be useful for standardizing dual point FDG-PET studies in patients with breast cancer performed by different PET scanners. This method is also expected to be useful for the standardization of multicenter PET studies." @default.
