- W2313602009 abstract "Bromsulphalein half life (BSP-t/2) with fractional clearance (K value) was investigated in cattle by a modification of the method previously reported by the present authors. Mean biological BSP-t/2 value (minutes) of 23 dairy cows (Holstein) and 21 beef cattle (Japanese Shorthorn) was 3.31 min [range of 95% confidence limit (CL): 2.74-3.88 min] and 3.53 min (2.76-4.30) with K value 20.9%/min (range of 95% CL: 17.9-25.3%/min) and 19.6 (16.1-25.1). Each clearance curve plotted in mean BSP concentration of two cattle groups was related to time until 12 min after injection, rectilinearly. The cattle examined were confirmed to reveal no abnormality in the activities of serum enzymes reflecting liver function. plasma concentration of lipids and albumin-globulin ration of serum.On the other hand, BSP-t/2 values and K values in 5 cows with liver disturbance due to CCl4 intoxication showed progressively changes and exhibited a significantly high correlation between the values of BSP percent retention (BSP-PR), enzyme activities and lipid concentration in serum, and triglyceride (TG) and glycogen (GL) contents in biopsy specimens. Degree of diffused liver lesion (hepatosis) was estimated from biological and morphological findings of each specimen examined, and classified into four types relative to BSP-t/2 values for each type. BSP-t/2 values indicated higher value in, the values before CCl4 administration, inactivated type of chronical hepatosis, activative chronical hepatosis, acute hepatosis and fulminant hepatosis. No overlap within the 95% range CL of any type of hepatosis was recognized." @default.
