- W2314097408 abstract "Three satellite-derived precipitation products (TRMM, PERSIANN and CMORPH) and one radar-derived product (MPE data) were compared from March through April, 2009 in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACF) River Basin in the United States. The zonal Hovmöller diagrams show the spatial and temporal patterns in the TRMM rainfall rate generally agree with the MPE rainfall rate over the southeast US. The basin-wide mean areal precipitation estimates derived from the four data sources and duration over the ACF River Basin show that the TRMM and the PERSIANN data tend to under-estimate the rainfall throughout the two-month analysis. The time to peak of satellite data follows the trend of MPE data closely over ACF basin. The cumulative rainfall plots show that the PERSIANN data were not as negatively biased as TRMM. However CMORPH data products performed poorly in estimating storm patterns and magnitude in this basin. Satellite estimates from TRMM and PERSIANN were also compared with rain gage observations in Cambodia for the time period of July-Aug, 2000. Based on a review of this limited data set, satellite precipitation estimates, may not be an appropriate choice if rain gage data or MPE data are available." @default.
