- W2314484692 abstract "The behaviour of the unfed larvae of 2 Australian reptile ticks, Aponomma hydrosauri (Denny) and Amblyomma limbatum Neumann, was compared in the laboratory. When offered choices, Ap. hydrosauri larvae preferred cool temperatures, dark areas, and high humidities more than Amb. limbatum. Aponomma hydrosauri climbed less often to the tops of vials and climbed down through artificial litter layers more than did Amb. limbatum. Aponomma hydrosauri exposed itself less to environmental risk, presumbly at the cost of less efficient host finding. The interspecific differences are discussed in relation to the allopatric distributions of the 2 species." @default.
