- W231508919 abstract "[Abstract] This study is aimed at measuring the level of medical services and the level of efficiency of medical services provided to the beneficiaries in both public and private sectors; it is also aimed at measuring the impact of medical services on the efficiency of health insurances services provided to the beneficiaries. The population of the study was all the beneficiaries of health insurance in Jordan. Therefore, a questionnaire was designed and distributed to all health insurance beneficiaries in Jordan. A simple random sampling technique was utilized; thus, 640 questionnaires were distributed to different health insurance services' beneficiaries throughout Jordan, and 610 of the questionnaires were recovered; 10 were excluded for not reaching the minimal validation requirements, and so 600 or (about 93.75%) of the questionnaires were suitable for analysis. The researchers depended on the 600 questionnaires for both private and public sectors; they were distributed equally, with 300 in the private sector and 300 in the government sector. The major finding of the study was that the variables related to the factors, such as reception procedure, health education, and external environment, are inadequate in both sectors, but in general, the efficiency of health insurance provided in the private sector was comparatively better than in the public sector. The study recommended that health insurance should provide adequate health care, especially in the public sector, which affects the productivity of individuals. Old civilizations recognized the benefits of health insurance and treated it as an important issue. It is a social system created to reduce the risk that an individual may face in the future. It is a way of distributing losses. Therefore, the society feels more secure. It is necessary that every citizen be insured. Health conditions in Jordan are moving in the right direction, compared with other countries in the Middle East, in spite of the difficulties in economic and financial conditions the country is facing. But still, the government has aimed to include all citizens under the umbrella of health insurance. At the present time, more than 80% of citizens are benefitting from at least one kind of health insurance. The health insurance system in Jordan is divided into two sectors; the first is the public sector, which provides health insurance services with very low fees that do not exceed 2% of the individual monthly income. This sector includes the Ministry of Health, which provides health insurance services to about 25% of the citizen, and the military health services that provide health insurance services to about 35% of the citizens. The second sector is the private sector, which includes all private hospitals and private clinics. This sector provides health insurance to about 12% of the citizens. The Ministry of Health has also provided health centers in most of the regions in Jordan that provide health service facilities through paying very low fees that do not exceed 15% of the real cost. But we mostly remember that the quality of the services varies from one sector to another; therefore, the researchers found it as an interesting subject to measure the level of health services and the level of efficiency for each sector and the impact of these health services on the efficiency of the health services. Health insurance is an essential and important element in modern societies. It is one of the important sources of income of the national economy. Through the financial liquidity gained by providers of this service, the government, as well as private hospitals, it is treated as one of the most important segments for the stability of the national economy. …" @default.
