The course of the immune response was checked for up to 9 months postinfection with a panel of clones expressing SIV fragments. Among these epitopes, only one, 601–619, was found to be reactive with all sera and can be defined as the principal immunodominant epitope.Nous avons étudié la réponse humorale de 34 macaques expérimentalement infectés par le virus SIVmac-251 en utilisant en association une banque d'épitopes et des peptides synthétiques. L'étude de l'évolution de la réponse immune a été menée sur une période de 9 mois après l'infection, grâce à différents clones exprimant divers fragments du génome viral. Parallèlement, une étude systématique a été réalisée avec des peptides synthétiques couvrant la totalité des protéines transmembranaire (TM) et externe (SU) de l'enveloppe. Sept épitopes majeurs immunodominants ont été caractérisés. Quatre sont localisés dans la protéine SU : un dans la région V1 (111–130), un dans la boucle cystéine précédant la région V3 (311–330) et deux dans la partie C-terminale (501–520 et 511–530). Trois épitopes sont localisés dans la protéine TM : un dans le domaine extracellulaire (601–619), un dans la région transmembranaire (731–750) et un dans le domaine intracytoplasmique (861–881).
