- W2316322518 abstract "The Disturbance Accommodating Control (DAC) method is an effective way to reject disturbances of unknown magnitude and phase from the input to the plant. To use DAC effectively, the plant must be observable and controllable, which is not always the case. In this paper a method of input disturbance rejection is presented that does not require an observable plant. The controller adaptively finds gains that reject the disturbance of unknown phase and magnitude. The Direct Adaptive Disturbance Rejection method is used to reject input disturbances to a SISO model of a hard drive. The disturbance is modeled as a disk imbalance in the hard drive. Since an optimal H∞ controller has been designed, the goal is not to use adaptive control to control the read/write head of the hard drive, but to adaptively remove disturbances to the input. It is shown that an optimal disturbance rejection controller can easily be designed and that disturbances can be rejected within 20 milliseconds and that further seek commands to the drive cause only small tracking errors due to the disturbance." @default.
