- W2316361708 abstract "Abstract: Neural repair and regeneration for tissue engineering is the most promising strategy for treating human brain neurological diseases. Main bottle neck of the clinical therapy is that no ideal scaffold biomaterials as vehicle of neural stem cells (NSCs) and growth factors have been developed yet, even for the clinical tests. To solve this problem, a lot of work has been done and numerous kinds of biomaterials have been studied. The interaction between NSCs and biomaterials, especially the regulation of NSCs by materials, plays an essential role during the scaffold biomaterial selection. The article gives an overview on the recent progresses on regulation of NSCs by biomaterial and shows some recent patents regarding the progress in the field. Keywords: Tissue engineering, neural repair, scaffold biomaterial, signal pathway. INTRODUCTION Brain is an information commanding center of human being. However, that’s how its functions remains unknown to us until now. Unraveling its mysteries is essential to understand its complex relationship with the various components of the peripheral and central nervous systems. Nevertheless, a large number of patients are still suffering from brain or central nervous system diseases, such as stroke, cerebral ischemia, spinal cord injury (SCI), traumatic brain injury and neurodegenerative disorders, like Parkin-son's disease and Alzheimer's disease and so on [1, 2], which seriously decrease the life quality. Neural tissue repair and regeneration strategies have attracted considerable attention, as they are thought to be the most direct way to cure neural network disorders. These strategies can greatly improve the quality of the patients’ life. With this strategy, various scaffolds combined with bioactive factors and multipotent cells are designed to be transplanted into damaged site for tissue development and function improvement. Recently, many reviews have concluded the progress of using various biomaterial scaffolds for neural repair [3-5]. Such as Zhong" @default.
