- W2316368966 abstract "The focus of the present study is to develop a multilayer structure of bioinorganic proteins for nanoscale energy storage units for future NASA missions. The concept of a bio- nanobattery as a nanoscale energy storage unit is based on ferritin, an iron storage protein that naturally exists in most biological systems. Biomineralization allows ferritins to reconstitute their iron core with various metallic cores. The redox potential of each half cell of a bio-nanobattery determines the final potential difference of a complete cell. A spin self- assembly (SA) method was used to fabricate multilayered film structures with high packing density. Ellipsometric analysis showed that the thickness of ferritin multilayers increased linearly as the spin SA deposition was repeated." @default.
