- W2316573076 abstract "The extra-embryonic celomic fluid (EECF) can serve as a bio-reactor for stem cells injected with therapeutic purposes. We used an established non-human primate model to investigate if the injection of human Hematopoietic Umbilical Cord Stem Cells (hUCSC) into the extraembryonic celomic cavity could lead to future infertility. Experiments were performed after approval by the OU-Animal Care Committee. Seven animals were included in the study. All had sonographic CRL, embryonic heart rate, yolk sac, amniotic sac and gestational sac measurements before and after celocentesis. Different doses of purified hUCSC were administered at 38-42 days from fertilization (pre-immune embryonic state). Of the 7 animals 5 delivered mature and healthy neonates. Two animals aborted within 36 hours of the procedure. Table 1 summarizes the experimental conditions including the long term effect on fertility. These findings suggest that fertility is preserved in primates fallowing the xeno-transfusion of stem cells via ultrasound-guided celocentesis.
