- W2318172753 abstract "The biological effect of isonicotinic acid (IA) was studied by oral administration as 0.1% and 0.5% solutions in Swiss mice and 0.5% solutions in AKR and C3H mice in the drinking water for their life span. The consumption of chemical was without any apparent carcinogenic action in the experimental animals. Nevertheless, in the IA-treated C3H female mice, life expansion, decreased incidence of breast adenocarcinomas, and prolongation of their latent periods were observed when compared with the corresponding controls. In view of the fact that IA is one of the in vivo metabolic products of isonicotinic acid hydrazide (INH), which was found to be concomitantly a tumor inducer and inhibitor, the possible mode of action of these chemicals are discussed in the light of the present results." @default.
