The model‐driven approach is used for robust event detection. It additionally provides model arrival times, which serve as good initial estimates of P‐ and S‐wave onset times. Such estimates are subsequently used to accurately measure true arrival times and extract the associated polarization information required for a data‐driven localization method. Accurate hypocenter locations are therefore obtained through a sequential resolution of the constrained inverse problem, addressing the potential convergence issues of a gradient search. In addition to the global processing flow, the method uses a new set of tools for picking arrival times and polarization angles.Permalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/1.3513270FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByMicro-fracture Precursors of Water Flow Channels Induced by Coal Mining: A Case Study5 May 2021 | Mine Water and the Environment, Vol. 40, No. 2Moment tensor migration imaging2 April 2014 | Geophysical Prospecting, Vol. 62, No. 4Methods for large scale hydraulic fracture monitoringStrategy for automated analysis of passive microseismic data based on S-transform, Otsu’s thresholding, and higher order statisticsG-Akis Tselentis, Nikolaos Martakis, Paraskevas Paraskevopoulos, Athanasios Lois, and Efthimios Sokos18 September 2012 | GEOPHYSICS, Vol. 77, No. 6Study of a New Real-Time Monitoring Method on the Underground Mining Activities1 November 2012 | Applied Mechanics and Materials, Vol. 229-231Study of Real-Time Monitoring System on the Underground Mining Activities Based on Explosion Source Location Technology1 July 2012 | Applied Mechanics and Materials, Vol. 190-191 SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2010ISSN (print):1052-3812 ISSN (online):1949-4645Copyright: 2010 Pages: 4453 publication data© 2010 Copyright © 2010 Society of Exploration GeophysicistsPublisher:Society of Exploration Geophysicists HistoryPublished: 21 Oct 2010 CITATION INFORMATION Bassem Khadhraoui, David Leslie, Julian Drew, and Rob Jones, (2010), Real‐time detection and localization of microseismic events, SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts : 2146-2150. https://doi.org/10.1190/1.3513270 Plain-Language Summary PDF DownloadLoading ..." @default.
