- W2320199488 abstract "This paper takes stock of recent real world experience with fielded unmanned systems and the technical developments now taking place in emerging DOD programs, such as JUCAS and UCAR. The issues of Manned-Unmanned system interaction being addressed in these programs and in ACCESS V are reviewed as a background to the broader dangers of the proliferation of multi-supplier, multi-country and adversarial unmanned systems on a common battlefield. The paper addresses the operational issues created by multi-system interactions, the problems encountered by a single operator managing large scale robotic systems and identifies and reviews the key technical, economic, political and ethical issues that arise and need to be addressed in introducing these systems onto the battlefield. The paper suggests techniques and protocols that need to be developed to avoid system fratricide and collateral damage when both cooperative and uncooperative systems interact on a common battlefield." @default.
