In this paper, we introduce the concept of simultaneous interpolation and deghosting and describe a new technique called Generalized Matching Pursuit (GMP) to achieve this. As a data‐dependent method, GMP can operate on data samples that are highly aliased in the crossline direction without relying on assumptions about seismic events such as linearity. The technique is naturally suitable for data with only a small number of sample positions, which may be irregularly spaced. We demonstrate the efficacy and robustness of the GMP method on several synthetic datasets of increasing complexity and in the presence of noise.Permalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/1.3513598FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited byAn open-source framework for the implementation of large-scale integral operators with flexible, modern high-performance computing solutions: Enabling 3D Marchenko imaging by least-squares inversionMatteo Ravasi and Ivan Vasconcelos15 September 2021 | GEOPHYSICS, Vol. 86, No. 5An integrated broadband preprocessing method for towed-streamer seismic dataMehdi Aharchaou and Erik Neumann24 February 2020 | GEOPHYSICS, Vol. 85, No. 2Three-dimensional receiver deghosting of seismic streamer data using L1 inversion and redundant extended radon dictionary10 April 2018 | Geophysical Prospecting, Vol. 66, No. 5The importance of omnidirectional sampling for geologic interpretation of seismic data, Flemish Pass area, offshore NewfoundlandAndreas Laake, Juan Perdomo, Nigel Seymour, and Azza Imamshah17 August 2017A case study of the 3D cable reconstruction in the presence of acoustic anomalies for imaging exploration targets in complex geologic settings Offshore Newfoundland, CanadaJuan Perdomo, Hazem Ahmed, Alexander Zarkhidze, and Azza Imamshah17 August 2017NEW SEISMIC ACQUISITION TECHNOLOGY FOR EFFICIENT SUBSALT AND PRE-SALT OIL EXPLORATIONNick Moldoveanu, Christopher Cunnell, Franck M.
