- W2321830166 abstract "ObjectiveTo determine whether early childhood development through age 36 months differ by mode of conception.DesignUpstate KIDS (2008-2010) is a birth cohort designed to investigate childhood development in relation to infertility treatment. Using birth certificate information from New York State (excluding New York City), mothers delivering a singleton conceived with infertility treatment were recruited along with mothers who conceived spontaneously at 1:3 ratio while frequency matched on region of birth. The accuracy of birth certificates for sampling has been demonstrated. (Louis et al. PPE 2014).Materials and MethodsParents completed the Ages & Stages Questionnaire© (ASQ) when their children were 4, 8, 12, 18, 24, 30 and 36 months of age. ASQ is a validated instrument for assessing developmental delay in 5 domains including fine motor, gross motor, communication, personal-social and problem solving. A fail was defined as a score of 2 standard deviations below the mean of normative data for that domain. 3797 singletons (2793 none, 450 ART and 553 other treatments) had at least one ASQ returned. Mothers reported on infertility treatment at 4 months. Self-reported ART was highly concordant with linkage to SART-CORS. Adjusted odds ratios (AORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the 5 ASQ developmental domains by infertility treatment (ART, other, none) were estimated using generalized linear mixed models to account for longitudinal screening results. Use of clinical developmental services (e.g. speech services) reported at 30-36 months (and verified by linkage to the Early Intervention Program) was also assessed. Analyses were adjusted for maternal age, race, education, insurance, cohabitation, previous pregnancy, and pregnancy smoking.ResultsThe odds of a child failing any ASQ domain were not significantly associated with conception by infertility treatment (Table). Children conceived by ART or other treatments did not differ in reported use of developmental services; adjusted ORs being 1.33 (0.50-3.56) for ART and 0.95 (0.33-2.72) for other treatments.ConclusionsTabled 1Adjusted ORs (95% CI) of ASQ Domain Fails at 4 through 36 months by Infertility Treatment Status.ASQ DomainARTOther infertility treatmentsFine Motor0.69 (0.39,1.22)0.84 (0.36,1.94)Gross Motor2.19 (0.92,5.22)0.73 (0.30,1.76)Communication0.84 (0.31,2.27)0.78 (0.32,1.91)Personal-Social1.45 (0.63,3.35)1.03 (0.46,2.29)Problem Solving2.13 (0.81,5.57)1.62 (0.69,3.78) Open table in a new tab Reference:1.Buck Louis GM, Hediger ML, Bell EM, Kus CA, Sundaram R, McLain AC et al.
