- W2322211370 abstract "In case study Mashhad religious metropolitan is considered. The transport model adopted for the study, was an application of EMME/2 software with master transportation studies for Mashhad. The study area includes the whole of the Mashhad urban area (with 144 zones and 9 main entry routes). This research is done in Mashhad Research Transportation Center (MRTC) in traffic organization of municipality. The aim of research was to study of land-use change effects on traffic and transportation. In this study the city was divided by three main zones: central (or CBD), internal loop around CBD (or Middle zone) and external loop around CBD (or External zone). For each of these zones was considered a centroid point which was different from base sentries in master studies. Then changing of land-use in three scenarios was done and impacts of these changes on transportation with environmental scopes with using EMME/2 software was evaluated. To determine the land-use changing usual land-uses, for instant residential and public open spaces was considered and changed to commercial land-use, especially in CBD of city. It could have been thought that land-use changing to high traffic kind and the volume of traffic would be increased and cause reduction in movement and speed in city network and production of environmental pollution's for citizens. But results of this research shows that effects of changes, sometimes is not negative and depends on zones and their locations. These effects on central zones were negative, on median zones were about positive, and on external zones were positive. Although with time spending, these effects will be less apparent. In this study duty of mass transportation systems and urban railway systems especially LRT and its relationship with land-use changing and development was considered. The result of this research shows that with using these systems, metropolitan routes network response to those effects. The traffic effects of land-use have always been highly considered by urban planner and transportation engineers. In the center of metropolitan areas with large economic activities, such as Mashhad designing and building huge commercial complexes is unavoidable fact. These complexes are usually located in business quarter of the city and have special features such as high land prices, which negotiate a high-density building in order to make investment, economically viable. Other features such as traffic problems exist even before, these building constructions and obviously future-building constructions further add to the traffic problems. On the other hand the increase of traffic volume in the cities and streets have cost indirect costs to those using the network which includes time wasting, vehicle's depreciation and damages such as environmental pollution. Thus when considering such building complexes, besides taking into account the direct profits, these hidden factors should also be considered. Fortunately in recent years the officials have realized the importance of traffic problems, and traffic studies have found its place in urban planning and it's hopped that it will be more appreciated in the near future." @default.
