- W2322276061 abstract "The low concentration response amplitude of the bacterial sensors, based on aerobic bacterial membrane applied as a sensing element and Clark type oxygen probe applied as a transducer is determined by factors as: membrane bacterial charge, bacterial metabolism efficiency toward the substrate, temperature, pH, oxygen and substrate mass exchange rates etc., all of them affecting the substrate depending bacterial oxygen consumption, registered as a sensor response. The real measurable sensor response determining the sensor limit of detection (LOD) however depends mainly on the signal to noise (S/N) ratio. Thus, the bacterial sensors based on low oxygen consumption strains, such as Artrobacter Globiformis would provide extremely small response to low substrate concentrations, which measurement would be impossible without appropriate noise suppression for S/N improvement, thus determining an insufficient LOD. The limit of detection improvement of Arhtrobacter Globiformis and Acidithiobacilus Ferrooxidans based sensors reported by the authors earlier [1, 2, 3] were achieved by the application of a simple but effective noise suppression approach based on synchronizing of the signal processing on the power line frequency. Results obtained by the application of this approach are presented and discussed." @default.
