- W2322325148 abstract "An optimal design of a railway track without ballast, a so-called embedded rail structure (ERS), is considered. The optimality criteria formulated using the requirements to railway tracks, are related to cost efficiency of the design, minimum noise emission and minimum wear of wheels and rails as well as safety requirements. Material properties and volume of elastic compound, shape of rails and size of troughs are taken as the design variables. The static and dynamic behavior of ERS is analyzed using the finite element method. The multicriteria optimization problem is solved using the preference function approach while a numerical technique called Multipoint Approximations based on Response Surface fitting (MARS method) is chosen as an optimization method. Starting from a conventional embedded rail structure, several designs of ERS suitable for high-speed operations have been obtained using various preferences for an optimal design. The results of the optimization are presented and discussed." @default.
