B. P. を過ぎる頃から, 当地域は内湾化し海岸線が最も奥部に達したのは8,300y. B. P. 頃である。しぼらくこの状態が続いた後, 徐々に内湾の埋積が進み, 6,300～5,500y. B. P. 頃には当地域の陸化は完了した。珪藻遺骸群集に基づいて求められた内湾最拡大期の海岸線は, 荒川低地左岸の大宮台地側では台地に刻まれた支谷へ深く入り込んで位置していたのに対し, 右岸の武蔵野台地側では, 流入する入間川, 小畔川, 越辺川の影響により淡水域が広く分布することにより海岸線は低地中央付近に位置していた。このことは大宮台地の平方貝塚群がヤマトシジミ, カキ, ハイガイ, ハマグリを産出するのに対し, 武蔵野台地の小仙波貝塚は主淡であることとも調和的である。" @default.
