- W2325231452 abstract "*† An experimental approach is presented that focuses on a class of uniquely low-g multiphase flows that can be investigated effectively and affordably using low-g aircraft. The new, uncomplicated technique allows for the detailed study of slug flows that are fully developed and steady–a rarity among low-g two-phase flow experiments. The experimental approach has many advantages when applied in low-g: It is simple, easily automated, low cost, lightweight, can be sized to accommodate a variety of experiment envelope requirements, and uses a low liquid inventory. A recent demonstration of the method via NASA’s Reduced Gravity Flight Opportunities Program is reviewed. Results from such tests can guide analyses to characterize the unique phenomena observed and be used in turn to establish semi-analytic correlations of greatest value to designers in the field of low-g fluids systems.
