- W2327117003 abstract "Background Juvenile idiopathic arthritis affect essentially all parameters of quality of life of sick children, including their physical, social, and psychological functioning. Objectives We evaluated quality of life of patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis with aid of the parental version of questionnaire CHQ. Methods There were questionnaired 103 mothers of patients and 48 mothers of healthy children at the age of 7–17 years. The parameter of evaluation of the total state of health of the patients turned out to be two times lower than that of healthy children: whereas the absolute majority of parents of healthy children evaluated their health as good or very good, the state of patients’ health was evaluated as intermediate or bad. The lower parameters on the scale “The total perception of the state of health” reflected concern about the child’s health. Results As compared with healthy children, in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis on the scale “Physical functioning”, a decrease of physical possibilities was established not only during the movements requiring the higher or moderate energy expenditure, but also during walking, postural changes or self-service. The lower parameters among sick children on the scales “Psychical health” and “Self-respect” indicate the presence in sick children of whining, feeling of solitude, a decrease of self-appraisal, of the children’s satisfaction with their physical possibilities, the degree of participation in the school work, interrelations in the family and with friends. Among patients with juvenile arthritides, there has been established limitation of every-day actions, school work, and games with friends not only because of physical possibilities, but also because of the emotional state, which is indicated by low parameters of the scales “The role/social limitations – physical and emotional aspects”. Conclusions The performed study has revealed the lower parameters in the majority of scales characterizing the child’s physical activity, the psychoemotional reaction, which indicates the lower level of the life quality in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis as compared with healthy children. It has been established that the quality of life depends essentially on peculiarities of the course of disease, including the expression of functional insufficiency, the degree of activity.
